VASN Scholarships & Grants

During the Annual VASN Fall Conference, we recognize our members for advancing the professional practice of school nursing and reward several of them with Virginia Association of Nurses scholarships and grants. 2024 VASN Grants for Certification & Re-Certification (Links to Application will be posted August 1, 2024)

Certification represents a national standard of preparation, knowledge, and practice and is a voluntary process. Three (3) grants are available to members who earn their certification credential through the National Board for Certification in School Nursing (NBCSN) during 2024.  Application deadline is August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Maintaining NBCSN certification requires school nurses to complete numerous professional development activities, which can become costly.  To help offset the fees for renewal, VASN is offering four (4) grants to members who renew their NBCSN during 2024. Application deadline is August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Professional Development Grants

Professional Development Grants of up to $100 may be available throughout the year to members who have participated in a professional development activity for which they are presenting or are being recognized at a NASN National Conference or another nursing venue.  Please contact a VASN Board Member for information about these grants.

NASN Scholarships & Grants

If you become a VASN member, you’re also eligible to apply for scholarships and grants presented by the National Association of School Nurses, including:

• Research Grants

• Endowment Education Scholarships

• Advocacy Education Scholarship

• RN to BSN Education Advancement Scholarship

In addition, one New Member Scholarship is awarded in early April each year. New members joining between April 1st and March 31st will automatically be added into the random drawing that is used to select a scholarship recipient. No application process beyond the application for membership required.
