Happy New Year!
I am very excited to serve you as your President of VASN and to work with Na-Keisha White who is the new President Elect and with your Past President Angela Moore. It is my honor to follow all of the work done by my predecessors Gina Bellamy and Angie. I can't thank those enough who have volunteered to serve on committees. We have such a great team! If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, we would love to have your help. The more help we have the more we can get done. The first edition of the Compass, which is our newsletter, will be sent out quarterly. It has a lot of excellent information in it, thank you to Bernadette for all the work that went into it, Please take the time to look at the legislation section of the website as it will provide you with valuable information as to what bills are being presented that concern nurses in Virginia. The General Assembly is now in session.
Our VASN conference will be held November 9 -10, 2024 in Virginia Beach at the Hilton Oceanfront. Registration opens May 1st so be sure to register early to get the discounted hotel rates. Our first executive committee meeting of the year will be January 31st from 6-6:45 p.m. and our first conference planning meeting will be January 31st 7- 8 p.m.. All are welcome to attend. The zoom link is in the newsletter and a reminder link will be sent out prior to the meetings. Emails will come from a VASN account create by our secretary Jenn Blivens so be on the look out for them. If you know of a nurse who is not a member, please encourage them to join.
